Consortium
The consortium consisted of a large number of professional organisations with different backgrounds, which all have a great interest in radiation protection training in various medical fields as well as expertise in providing such training.
The professional organisations involved in the project included the European Society of Radiology (ESR) as coordinator as well as the European Federation of Organisations for Medical Physics (EFOMP), the European Federation of Radiographer Societies (EFRS), the European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ESTRO), the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM), as well as the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE), covering the main European stakeholders and professional groups with relevance to radiation protection training in the medical field.
The composition of the consortium ensured commitment of all European professional organisations involved to provide input and feedback to the European Guidance document, which was the final goal of this project, and ensured that the document has found acceptance and generate endorsement within the relevant professional communities at the European level.
ESR was responsible for the overall management of the Project and all coordination activities with support of a Steering committee (SC). The Steering committee consisted of one representative per partner and external advisors: J. Damilakis (ESR), G. Paulo (EFRS), D.R. Olsen (ESTRO), W. Eschner (EANM), C. Cristofides (EFOMP), D. Tsetis (CIRSE), E. Vano (ICRP) and R. Baranzyk (EC).
